Mourning Ghost – Queer Grief and Rituals

We live in a time of deep loss. From personal loss through genocidal violence and the devastation it wreaks, we fail to find the gestures to navigate mourning and grief. How can live in these cities that deem us criminals, and kill us? How can we live in a dying world? Orphans and despots of conservative religious (mourning) rituals, we think about how our communities have fostered ways to survive and resist, through the creation of our own rituals – from the dancefloors to the streets.

This film program will be accompanied with the collective sharing of thoughts and rituals on grief.

Film selection:

  • Fateless (Auditions), by Bassem Saad and Maxi Wallenhorst (19 min, 2024)
